City kids in Burkina Faso think they’ve spotted Osama bin Laden. A deaf Frenchwoman in Manhattan writes a Dear John letter to a man who has left that morning for work at the World Trade Center. A mother endures more than her son’s death. And that is just some of the stories presented in “11’09″01 September 11″, an international film composed of 11 contributions from different filmmakers, each from a different country. Each gives their own vision of the events in New York City on September 11, 2001, in a short film of 11 minutes, 9 seconds, and one frame.
About some of the directors:
Samira Makhmalbaf is an internationally acclaimed Iranian filmmaker and script writer, and belongs to the New Wave movement within Iranian cinema.
Claude Lelouch is a French filmmaker who have been making films since the early 1960s, winning the Palme d’Or for “Un homme et une femme” at the 1966 Cannes Film Festival.
Youssef Chahine was a critically acclaimed Egyptian filmmaker, credited with launching the career of actor Omar Sharif (“Dr. Zhivago”).
Danis Tanovic is a Bosnian filmmaker, best known for having directed and written the script for the 2001 Bosnian movie “No Man’s Land” which won an Academy Award.
Ken Loach is an English film and television director, known for his naturalistic, social realist directing style and for his socialist beliefs.
